Jermaine Durham's campaign for city council is his first entry into politics.

Jermaine is an assistant professor of housing and community development at the University of Georgia's College of Family and Consumer Sciences. He used to work with the Housing Authority of Savannah, as a microbusiness coordinator at Savannah State University, and as a youth program manager at Goodwill of the Coastal Empire.

Jermaine is originally from Hartwell. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Georgia Southern University, a master's degree in urban studies and planning from Savannah State University, and a Ph.D. in planning, design, and the built environment from Clemson University.
