Nivea Castro was first elected as city council member in 2022.

Nivea is a retired attorney and a social justice advocate. She has been involved in social, economic, and political advocacy such as anti-war demonstrations, the first LGBT March on Washington, electoral politics (i.e., Joe Biden’s first run for president). She served as a Master in Family Court.

Nivea has lived in Pine Lake since 2019. She is a native New Yorker and has lived in and traveled to many places around the globe. She holds a black belt in martial arts and teaches self-defense to girls and women.
