Bernetta Bryant Lanier is currently a city council member. She was elected in 2019 and is serving her first term.

Bernetta is the owner of NSB Management Group, and she worked as a small business and marketing consultant. She also founded the West Bay Farmers Market and Urban Agricultural Project. She also worked in local government as a police dispatcher, management & budget analyst, and an operations analyst.

Bernetta graduated from Groves High School. She then earned a bachelor's degree in political science from South Carolina State University, and a master's degree in public administration from Savannah State University. Bernetta has a husband, two adult daughters, and a grandson.
