Lois D. Salter is currently mayor representing Berkeley Lake. She was first elected in 1999 and has been in office for six terms.

Lois worked as a teacher of French, English, and biology and was for many years the head of the counseling department at Duluth High School.

Lois is originally from Albany, Georgia. She has lived in Berkeley Lake since 1985 and raised her children here. Lois has a bachelor’s of arts from Mercer University, a master's from the University of Georgia, and a specialist degree from Georgia State University. She is currently a board member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Board of Directors of the North Georgia Family Counseling Center.
