Betty Guardado is a city council member in Phoenix City Council District 5. She was first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2020. She previously served as vice mayor of Phoenix from 2019 to 2021. She currently chairs the Community and Cultural Investment Subcommittee.

Betty previously worked as the director of organizing for UNITE HERE! Local 11 in Phoenix. Prior to that, she was a union organizer for hotel workers in Los Angeles. She began her career working as a housekeeper at the Century Plaza Hotel.

Betty grew up in south central Los Angeles. She lives with her husband and their 2 children in the Maryvale neighborhood of Phoenix, where they have resided for 14 years.
