Nick is originally from Buena Vista, Virginia. He earned his bachelor's degree from Radford University and is certified in educational dispute resolution from the Justice Center of Atlanta. Nick serves on the State Advisory Panel for Special Education for the Georgia Department of Education, and on the University of Georgia's Special Education Advisory Board. He lives with his wife in St. Marys, Georgia, where they own Farm to Family.

Nick currently works as a motivational speaker and special education consultant. He was in the Army for 22 years, retiring in 2004. Nick has also worked as a school administrator and special education teacher. He is the founder and CEO of The Fayette Field of Hope.
