Ladena Bolton ran for state representative in State House District 86 in 2020, but she did not win. She is the committee chairperson of House District 85 of the Dekalb County Democratic Committee.

Ladena currently works as a scientist at The Coca-Cola Company. She is also a self-employed innovation management consultant. She previously worked as an Army civilian chemist.

Ladena was born in the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Savannah State University and later a doctorate of philosophy degree in polymer chemistry from Clark Atlanta University. She is married to her husband, with whom she has 3 sons.
