Mya Thomae's campaign for county commission chair in Dawson County, Georgia is her first run for public office.

Mya current works as a regulatory advisor to medical device and therapeutic companies. She previously worked as a consultant at Mya Thomae Consulting and as a manager at Chiron Corporation.

Mya is originally from Mequon, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor's degree in music and cello performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She volunteers as a poll worker and serves on the Dawson County Long Range Planning Committee. She lives with her husband, Pete, in Dawsonville.
