Craig is married to Elizabeth Bland Nobles. They have two children and three grandchildren.


Craig has worked in the Long County Sheriff’s Office since Dec. 15, 2000. He has worked in several capacities, such as patrol deputy, K-9 handler, patrol supervisor and Long County school resource officer.

Craig W Nobles is the County Sherriff of Long County. He was first elected in 2012 and is currently serving his third term. 

Plans to equip all Long County patrol vehicles with mobile technology so "deputies will be able to stay in the field."

Implemented changes to the office, including changing standard operating procedures "to address changes in case law and to limit exposure to liability."

Plans to seek federal and state grants to "ensure that we can grow with the needs of Long County with as minimal increase to our operating budget as possible."

The County Sheriff is an elected official who acts as the chief law enforcement officer in their county. They are tasked with operating the county jails, keeping courtrooms secure during trials, and keeping the public safe through proper law enforcement. Each Sheriff's Office in Georgia may look a little different in how they hire and run their teams, but all County Sheriffs have the same duties. These duties include the following:

- Operating the county jail
- Providing court security
- Serving civil papers
- Executing arrest warrants
- Providing primary law enforcement within unincorporated areas of the county
- Working with city law enforcement officers to keep municipalities safe
