Lydia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Seton Hall University in 1982. She is a mother, and resides in Fairburn, Georgia with her seven children.  She serves on the Education Committee, the House Higher Education Committee, and the Information and Audits Committee.

Lydia is a Community Engagement and Labor Liaison with United Way of Greater Atlanta, where she has been for five years. She also works as a Senior Consultant with VisionSparks, LLC, where she has been for eight years.
