Sen. Sonya Halpern represents the 39th Senate District in Fulton County, Georgia. She serves as the Chair of the Fulton County Delegation and is a member of the Georgia-Israel Legislative Caucus. She has also been the Vice Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and the City of Atlanta Delegation.

Sonya previously worked at ESPN and Cox Enterprises. Additionally, she was previously appointed by President Barack Obama as the first African-American and first Georgian to Chair the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts.

Sen. Halpern pursued her bachelor's degree at the University of Massachusetts and continued on to the University of Hartford for her master's in business administration. Sonya is a first-generation Georgian, living in the 39th District for 25 years, and is married to Daniel Halpern with whom she has three children.
