Jappy was born and raised in Bulloch County. He attended Statesboro High School and received his degree from Georgia Southern University. He and his wife Emily have two children and two grandchildren. 

Jappy previously worked at and ran Stringer Chevron, a gas station and mechanic shop, for over 30 years. 

Jappy Stringer is currently the  County Commissioner in Bulloch County Commission. He was elected in 2016 and is serving his second term.
