This is Iris Hamilton's first time running for office. She has previously served as the public policy and legislative director for the Georgia Nurses Association and board treasurer for the Georgia Nurses Political Action Committee.

Iris is the executive director of the healthcare management team at Amerigroup. She has worked as the director of medical management and clinical operations at Wellpoint and Anthem. She has also served on the Board of Directors for Gwinnett County Northside Hospital.

Iris attended Florida A&M University for her undergraduate degree in respiratory therapy and Miami Dade College for her nursing degree. She resides in Snellville, Georgia with her husband and their son.
