Erin is a lifelong resident of Ashland County. She has a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Akron. She was married to her husband, Jeff who passed away in 2015. They have 3 children. Erin has volunteered with different organizations, including Mapleton Schools, the Nova Lions Club, and the Maple Grove Church of Brethren, where she serves as deacon.

Erin worked for Lawyers Title as a title examiner. She was also an independent title researcher.
