Scott was born and raised in Altoona and graduated from Blair County Christian School. He has bachelor's degree from Grace College and a master's degree from Grace Theological Seminary. He and wife Beth live with their children in Hollidaysburg.

Scott worked as a pastor for 15 years before retiring from full-time ministry. He then became the general manager and talk show host for WRTA.
