Douglas earned a bachelor of business administration in accounting from Iona College. He and his wife, Ann Marie, have three children.

Douglas is a senior partner at Ryan LLC, an international tax consulting firm. He has been with Ryan for nearly 17 years. He previously worked as a worldwide partner at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte. 

Douglas previously served as an Alpharetta City Councilman from 2001 to 2011.

Aims to maintain a Triple A bond rating for the city and stabilize taxes.
