Yterenickia is the Georgia State Office Director at the Southern Poverty Law Center. She previously served as the Senior Director of Voting for The Leadership Conference Education Fund and as the National Organizing Director at Care in Action/National Domestic Workers Alliance, where she supervised state directors and program managers in seven core states while developing electoral and legislative strategies for state and federal campaigns. Earlier in her career, she worked as a legislative coordinator for Planned Parenthood, advocating for reproductive care and access at the state capital. Yterenickia also taught social work and social welfare courses at Georgia State University. Before entering public policy, she worked as a social worker, serving vulnerable communities and addressing complex issues.

Yterenickia is currently a councilwoman for the City of Clarkston. She was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2021. She previously ran for mayor in 2020 but did not win.
