Dr. Sylvia Martin was born in Augusta, Georgia and raised in Grovetown. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Augusta College, a master's degree in natural science from the University of South Carolina, a specialist degree in teaching and learning from Augusta State University, and her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Liberty University. She lives in Grovetown with her husband Robert. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. She is a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. 

Sylvia has over 40 years experience as a science teacher.
