Gabrielle Nelson is a lifelong resident of Chatham County, raised in Savannah by her grandparents who instilled in her the values of faith, service, and community. Educated in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and Armstrong Atlantic State University, Gabrielle’s early experiences as a preacher’s granddaughter and youth mentor fueled her lifelong commitment to listening with compassion and leading with integrity. Her passion for financial literacy, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment has driven her work both inside and outside of government. A devoted mother of three and active little league coach, Gabrielle lives her values every day—building a future where Port Wentworth thrives with compassion, accountability, resilience, and equity.

Gabrielle is a computer services manager at Chatham County, where she has worked for 16 years. Before being elected to the Port Wentworth City Council, she served on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.

Gabrielle is currently a member of the Port Wentworth City Council. She was first elected in 2021 and is serving her first term. 

Supports responsible zoning and local job creation.

Supports expanding access to healthcare and mental health resources, and investing in safe spaces and recreational facilities for youth.

Supports creating family-friendly events, youth mentorship programs, and senior support.

As a city council member, pushed for and helped break ground on a new housing community in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Chatham County Government to provide attainable housing options.

As mayor, opened the Port Wentworth Guardian Training Center to strengthen regional police training efforts.
