George is a retired educator. He spent 46 years in public education, working as a special education teacher, high school principal, and program director at the local and state levels. He also served as a professor in educational leadership at North Carolina Central University and worked as an evaluator and accreditor of schools and school districts across the United States and in ten foreign countries.

Political background

George is currently a member of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education. He was first elected to the board in 2021 and is currently serving his second term as chair. His current term ends in 2025.
