R. Max Raynor is currently the mayor of Benson. He was appointed to the position in 2025 and will finish the remaining term of the late Mayor Jerry Medlin, which ends in December 2025. Before becoming mayor, Raynor served as a member of the Benson Board of Commissioners from 2012 to 2025, representing District III. He ran for re-election to the Benson Board of Commissioners in 2019 and won.
