Barbara Foushee is from eastern North Carolina. She has a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Saint Augustine’s University. She lives with her husband, Braxton Foushee, in Carrboro.

Barbara is currently the mayor of Carrboro. She was elected in 2023 and is serving her first term. Before becoming mayor, she served on the Carrboro Town Council from 2017 to 2023. She was re-elected in 2021 and served two terms.
