Christy Clark earned a bachelor of arts in political science and government from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Huntersville, North Carolina, with her husband, Chris, and their five children.

Christy is a technology associate and special education teacher at a local elementary school. She previously co-founded a law firm that helps small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs with their legal needs.

Christy is currently the Mayor of Huntersville. She was elected in 2023 and is serving her first term. She previously served in the North Carolina General Assembly from 2019 to 2020.

Derek is currently a member of the Huntersville Board of Commissioners. He was elected in 2021 and is serving a two-year term.

Believes large donations to representatives have undermined local governance and given power to developers in land use development.

Plans to work with town managers to assess the needs of fire, police, and local hospital emergency services departments to provide life-saving services that meet population growth.

Supports suspending the rezoning process on new developments for one year to allow current construction projects to complete and ease road infrastructure and traffic.

- The mayor leads the executive branch of local government, presiding over city council meetings, making sure city departments run smoothly, and providing services to citizens. 
- The mayor attends and runs City Council meetings, serving as an important leader for how local laws get set. These laws affect local services, such as Police, City Planning, Parks & Recreation, and Transportation.  
- The Mayor in some circumstances may vote to break a tie in council meetings. They do not have veto power.
