Rufus Lloyd is from Carver’s Creek. He has a bachelor’s degree in social studies from North Carolina A&T University and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Fayetteville State University. He is married to fellow educator Gloris Lloyd. The couple has known one another since the first grade. They live in Elizabethtown.

Rufus is a retired school administrator and social studies teacher. He served as an educator for over 30 years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Rufus is currently a council member for the Town of Elizabethtown. He was first appointed to the council in 1991 and has been re-elected multiple times since. He previously served as mayor pro tem and is currently serving as mayor pro tem again. He did not run for re-election in 2007 but was appointed that year to fill the remaining two-year council member seat of Sylvia Campbell. He has served on the Elizabethtown Town Council for over 30 years. 

Wants to improve town developments and infrastructure.
