Nantasha Williams is from Southeast Queens, New York. She has a bachelor's degree in political science from Virginia Commonwealth University, a master's degree in public administration from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, and a PhD in social welfare from the CUNY Graduate Center.

The New York City Council - Nantasha M. Williams

Nantasha is a New York City Council Member. She was previously the Executive Director of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus, where she advocated for policies that benefited low-income communities of color. Before her election to the City Council, she worked as a Project Manager for Minority Women Business Enterprise Compliance, where she ensured compliance for minority and women-owned businesses and helped initiate community outreach efforts for the JFK Redevelopment Program. 

Nantasha is currently a New York City Council Member representing District 27. She was elected in 2021 and is serving her first term.

As a city council member, helped pass legislation requiring salary ranges in job postings to promote fair pay for women and people of color.

Supports allocating $10 million to implement a citywide kindergarten-to-high school Black studies curriculum.

Supports allocating $14 million to restore funding for Community Schools and to support new schools.

Supports allocating $46 million to provide increased and fair wages for Special Education Pre-K and Day Care Providers.

Supports funding for senior programming and local senior centers, allocating over $300,000 towards this mission.

Secured investments for district public services, including funding for a local park, resilience upgrades at the Cambria Heights Library, and revitalizing a playground.

Supports providing property tax rebates to working- and middle-class homeowners.

Supports criminal justice reform, gun violence prevention, and addressing economic and racial disparities.

As a city council member, worked with the NYC Department of Sanitation and local NYPD precincts to address community concerns about derelict vehicles, weeds, and illegal dumping sites.

Supports funding for senior programming and local senior centers.

Supports prioritizing the maintenance of trees near buildings and structures.

Supports enacting flood adaptation assistance and establishing a task force for southeast Queens flooding.
