Carol is currently a member of the Clinton City Schools Board of Education. She was first elected to the board in 2010 and is currently serving her fourth term. She has served as vice chair and chair of the board.

As a school board member, advocated for a more inclusive approach to gifted programs that introduces identification and services beginning in kindergarten and recognizes giftedness beyond reading and math.
