She previously served as a Commissioner/Mayor Pro Tempore of the Town of Stovall, NC. She served 1 term from 2005 to 2009. This is her first time running for County Commissioner in Granville County Commission District 2 in North Carolina.

She currently works as an Adjunct Professor at Vance-Granville Community College. She previously worked as a program coordinator at the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a quality assurance/quality improvement director trainer at SUNRISE CLINICAL ASSOCIATES, PLLC, a human resources associate for Durham County Government, an outreach specialist for the North Carolina Department of Social Services, and held multiple adjunct professor roles at community colleges.
