Fitz Johnson is from Georgia. He has a bachelor's degree in education from The Citadel, a master's degree in education from Troy University, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He and his wife, Suzann Wilcox, have four children and five grandchildren. He is a member of Cumberland Community Church.

Professional background

Fitz is a businessman and a retired U.S. Army major who served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 2002. He has previously owned ASID Group International, LLC, and the Atlanta Beat women's professional soccer team. He has also worked at Eagle Group International.

Political background

Fitz is currently a member of the Georgia Public Service Commission, representing District 3. He was appointed to the commission in 2021 and is currently serving his first term. Fitz previously ran for Cobb County Commission in 2020 and Georgia School Superintendent in 2014, but did not win.

Utility Costs

Voted to let Georgia Power charge data centers for the cost of new infrastructure. Customer bills will still depend on contracts and PSC approval, and there’s no guarantee of lower rates for regular customers.

Approved a 3.5% monthly rate increase for customers in 2025 to help Georgia Power recover $306 million spent on utility projects. Most households saw an average monthly increase of $5.48.

Approved six rate hikes for Georgia Power over the past two years, raising customer costs by $43 per month.
