Mears Pitt, a 1992 graduate of Virginia Episcopal School, also attended Appalachian State University. He is the fourth-generation owner of Ace Hardware, a lifetime resident of Tarboro, and has served on several local boards, including Tarboro Community Outreach and as president of the Tarboro Swim Club.

Mears is the fourth-generation owner of Ace Hardware in Tarboro. 

Mears is currently a member of the Tarboro Town Council, representing Ward 5. He was appointed in June 2025 to fill the unexpired term of John Jenkins and will serve until the November 2025 municipal elections.

Supports the approved budget, which sets the property tax rate at 42 cents per $100 in valuation.

As a council member, voted to award a contract for the Riverfront Access Project and to purchase a new firefighting apparatus.

Ryan Jones is from Tarboro, North Carolina. He has a degree in entrepreneurship from Edgecombe Community College. He serves on the Tarboro Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Marketing Committee for the Downtown Development Corporation.
